兩岸服務貿易協議辯論協調會明(28)日召開，總統府副祕書長羅智強表示，政黨領袖、政治人物不應刻意排除媒體參與；但如果會議中，民進黨主席蘇貞昌方面仍堅持排除媒體提問，府方已善盡勸說之責，為了讓辯論順利舉辦，仍會勉強同意民進黨的要求。
針對服務貿易協議的辯論日期，羅智強表示，社會大眾期待服務貿易協議辯論順利舉行，總統府方面認為「晚不如早，不必拖延」。
羅智強說，立法院即將開議，開議後立法院將開始審議兩岸服貿協議，而辯論是公開的資訊檢驗平台，透過馬總統與蘇貞昌的交互辯論，正反論述將更清晰，這等於提供立法委員審查服貿協議的重要參考，這樣的資訊提供當然是愈早愈好。
羅智強強調，如果蘇貞昌覺得反對服貿協議有理，有信心在辯論時說服社會大眾，那麼在立法院民進黨立委反對服貿力量就會得到加持，蘇貞昌應該要贊成儘早辯論。除非蘇貞昌知道民進黨過去對服貿的很多批評都是抹黑，經不起檢驗，不利於民進黨在立法院的反對，才會想要拖延辯論。
羅智強表示，這是府方的初步建議，若蘇貞昌方面對舉辦日期有不同的思考，可以在協調會中再討論。
針對服貿協議協調會中要談那些主題，羅智強表示，他會嘗試勸說蘇貞昌的協調代表，接受媒體提問。
羅智強表示，在民主社會中，媒體是民意之聲，是政策監督的喉舌，政黨領袖、政治人物不應刻意排除媒體參與。事實上，服貿辯論若有媒體提問，可以増加辯論的深度與廣度，從更完整的面向來檢驗正反雙方的意見，有助於資訊的揭露。
