《紐約時報》刊登題為『日本的歷史障眼物』的社論，批評日本首相安倍否認歷史的行徑。

根據人民日報報導，日本政府20日向國會提交對『河野談話』出台過程的調查報告。社論指出，報告對『河野談話』的事實基礎表示懷疑。許多日本以外的歷史學家都同意日本軍隊強徵慰安婦的事實，但日本民族主義者迄今仍堅持否認歷史。

社論說，安倍指示出台這一報告是對日本戰爭罪行受害者的不公正之舉。日本民族主義者無疑將利用這一報告推動政府取消『河野談話』。值此之際，安倍應向日本和世界表明，否認歷史的人是錯誤的。
